Hulmes Hippodrome "at risk"

Two of Manchester’s oldest theatres have been named on an ‘at risk’ register by a leading charity. The Theatres Trust says every effort must now be made to save Hulme Hippodrome and Hulme Playhouse. The interiors, dating back to the 1900s, have been described as an ‘opulent riot’ of Roccoco style, the only surviving examples of their kind in the country.

Those of us who are hulmees will remember it as a bingo hall.  As you can see from the photograph a very opulent bingo hall.

It would be such as shame if not taken up soon and decays to the point on no return

Best of Hulme is back online!

I am very pleased to say after being away for some time The Best of Hulme is now back online.  As before I will be blogging on local stories and gossip.  As a cat I used up one of my nine lives through illness and am now reincarnated as HULMANICAT.  So keep your eyes open for the news of Hulme.

A cockatiel "Ruca" escaped yesterday on the 13/4/12 and was last seen in the hulme high street area.
Ruca is average sized ,mostly grey with white tipped feathers , a yellow face with red/orange cheeks. he has a blue tag on his left foot also.
Hes friendly but quite young and likley to be nervous and scared if seen please attempt capture using a large
